Overview
Kiddy is a smart parenting app that helps reinforce good behaviour in children through a fun and motivating reward system. The concept is simple but impactful: good behaviour earns "Happy Points," and poor behaviour results in "Angry Points." Children can later redeem their earned points for real rewards that they or their parents have chosen.
This positive reinforcement model encourages kids to make better choices, boosts their self-esteem, and helps parents cultivate a supportive environment. My role was to design the mobile UI, ensuring it was child-friendly, intuitive, and enjoyable for both kids and their parents.
The Challenge
Cybersecurity tools often overwhelm users with jargon, data, and cluttered interfaces. Beagle Security aimed to stand out by delivering a powerful yet approachable product, requiring designs that simplify insights, appeal to diverse users, and convey trust, innovation, and reliability across all touchpoints.
My Process
After launching the initial version of the Kiddy app, we received valuable user feedback from parents and early adopters. Common suggestions included making the interface more engaging for kids, simplifying navigation for parents, and improving clarity in the reward system.
Taking this feedback to heart, I redesigned the app’s key components—refining the reward dashboard, enhancing wishlist and challenge visibility, and incorporating more expressive visuals. We also introduced higher contrast and larger tap areas to better accommodate younger users.
Version two of the app focused on a smoother behavioral feedback loop and streamlined onboarding. I continued with research into child-friendly design patterns and accessibility principles, mapping out revised user flows for both kids and parents. The updated interface retained its playful nature while becoming even more intuitive and accessible.
Visual Design
The design emphasized a modern and vibrant aesthetic with dynamic elements that resonate with NFT culture. The layouts were crafted to highlight user-generated content while maintaining brand consistency. The responsive design ensured seamless interaction across both web and mobile devices.
